@2023 Genius Gypsy
নমস্কার! I'm Archa, also known as Luna Lilith OceaNyx. Hailing from the mystical heart of Bengal in eastern India, I embody a blend of ancient tales and modern aspirations. I'm a 25-year-young Indian Queer Polymath Witch.
My academic journey began with a background in Journalism and Mass Communication (Honors). I further pursued a postgraduate degree in Women’s Studies. As a first-generation international PhD candidate within the Department for the Study of Religion, I alighted at Riverside in the Fall of 2022 at age 24, fueled by a vision to harmonize art, activism, and academia. My aspirations stretched beyond the conventional: reimagining Indian religions through a queer prism, probing the depths of feminist religious studies, and illuminating the crossroads of menstruation, trans studies, and religion. I sought the chance to pursue autoethnography through the lens of an Indian Queer Polymath Witch. Armed with a profound grasp of multiple languages, dialects, and the rich tapestry of Indian culture, I am uniquely positioned to spearhead foundational research in Indian Religions using ethnographic approaches. Yet, instead of open horizons beckoning my explorations as an independent interdisciplinary researcher and potential theorist, I was met with walls of prejudice and narrow corridors of misunderstanding and bias. My dedication to academia is evident in my impressive record and repeated Merit Scholarships.
Creativity has been my companion since Kindergarten when I wrote my first poem. My artistic expressions span writing (from poetry to novels, short stories, essays, and quotes), abstract art, scriptwriting, and storytelling. Music is another soulful avenue for me. Trained in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music and Western Contemporary Vocals, I've crafted songs touching on themes of queerness, feminism, and paganism. I'm proud to have my works recognized and researched by institutions like the University of California, Los Angeles, and to be published in anthologies such as "Out of the Box," "The Insight of the Soul," and "Walking Towards Home."
I wear my activist hat with pride, being a part of esteemed organizations like the All India Queer Association (AIQA), Indian Queers Collective (IQC), SPECTRA, Rising Colours (RC), and Sappho for Equality (SFE). My activism extends to the digital realm where I founded United Intersectionals, a global intersectional multilingual feminist community. I've moderated and presented sessions on varied topics, advocating for the queer community and championing causes close to my heart. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I'm here not just to share my journey but to spark conversations, inspire change, and kindle curiosity. Stay connected with me on Instagram: @genius.gypsy. I am committed to making the world a better place with my unique blend of talents, vision, and voice.
